The Southfield-Lathrup Falcons introduces and encourages the game of football and cheerleading to youth while teaching them life skills and teamwork.
The Southfield-Lathrup Junior Football League (Falcons) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1955 to provide youth football, cheer, and dance programs in Southfield, Lathrup Village, and other surrounding areas. Today, the organization is a proud member of the Southeast Michigan Youth Football League. We are also proud of the fact that our organization consists of volunteers. No board members or coaches are paid, and every one of our volunteers is committed to enhancing the lives of the children in the program. Background checks are conducted on every volunteer and each year they become Red Cross CPR certified.
Our mission is to introduce and encourage the game of football and cheerleading to area youth, while teaching them life skills and teamwork. Our comprehensive program teaches fundamentals, encourages sportsmanship, character growth, hard work, and most of all FUN. Emphasis and encouragement of focusing their efforts to obtain and maintain academic excellence while engaging in athletics is also an organization target. Our program has fostered the growth of NCAA and NFL players alike. Currently, there are approximately seven former Falcons playing several in the National Football League. We have former Falcon players that have excelled in their adult lives in multiple occupations including medicine, law enforcement, real estate, engineering, education, the military, and much more.
The Southfield-Lathrup Falcons would like to welcome you to our Association. Our Association participants range from ages 5 - 14 years old. Our home games are played at University Prep High School (formerly Southfield-Lathrup High School) and/or Southfield High School for the Arts & Technology on Saturdays and Sundays. Please make an effort to get involved for the benefit of both your child, and yourself…we promise it will be a rewarding experience for both of you!
